Alice Hoyt Veen, CG, is the founder of Prairie Roots Research, providing professional genealogical and historical research services to clients who seek superior research solutions. She specializes in solving genealogical "brick walls."
A dedicated genealogist for more than thirty years, Alice is a graduate of the NGS's American Genealogy: A Basic Course, and is currently pursuing BCG certification. She has served as editor of the Iowa Genealogical Society’s monthly eNews and bimonthly newsletters. She holds a B.S. degree from Iowa State University.
Research Specialties: All Iowa and Midwestern records, including state and federal census, land, probate & court records, vital records, church & cemetery records, military, newspapers, LDS research, and lineage society applications. Alice travels throughout Iowa and surrounding states to conduct a personalized search of often-overlooked local resources in addition to utilizing the extensive collections of the Iowa State Archives and other research libraries in Des Moines. She photographs cemetery grave sites and other sites of historical interest upon request.
